Orly airport shuttle

On January 1, 1918, the French defence ministry requisition eleven hectares on the plateau Longboyau and installs a hangar there. This is the beginning of the airfield, "Orly - Villeneuve." From this event, the story begins at Orly.

Orly during the First World War the Americans set their air bases there. So it becomes a military field used by the French, Belgians and Americans.

After the First World War, Orly became an essentially ground to the navy. It was built to house two huge hangars where the airships that Germany would give him to France as compensation for war. Although these airships never arrived, and planes were occupied by planes.

At that time Orly became a civilian airport because it was hosting civilian airliners. Even schools were set up several pilot.

During World War II Orly is attacked and became a German military base. Because of this Orly was bombed by the allied troops in 1944 and installed there on "U.S. Air Force." In its time when it constructed the control tower, currently inoperable, but still I could appreciate, therefore still stands.

In 1952 Air France is installed at Orly airport but not until 1954 when Orly airport becomes a fully civilian. The area south of the airport "Orly-Sud" is inaugurated in 1961, while in 1971 establishing "Orly-Ouest", the west wing of the airport.

This is only one of the story that possesses this emblematic Paris airport. Saying that now, Orly airport is the second largest in France (after Charles de Gaulle) and is one of the first Europeans diex by number of passengers in Europe.
